🚓 Riverside Beat Weekly Update 🚓
It has been another busy week for Riverside officers, carrying out proactive patrols, tackling crime and antisocial behaviour, supporting vulnerable people, engaging with students and helping to keep our communities safe.
PC Jess and PC Callum carried out patrols in Castle Gardens, where several stop searches were conducted. As a result, one person was arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs, while another was arrested for possession of Class A drugs.
PC Fabian attended a multi agency meeting regarding a vulnerable individual and continued working with partner agencies to tackle antisocial behaviour. Following the issue of an Acceptable Behaviour Contract, there have been no further reports, demonstrating positive progress.
PC Merryn stopped a vehicle that was being driven in an unroadworthy condition following a collision. Checks revealed the vehicle was uninsured and the driver only held a provisional licence. The vehicle was subsequently seized and recovered. PCSO V took positive action after observing a vehicle being driven around Leicester City Centre in an anti-social manner, including excessive speeding and engine revving, causing alarm and annoyance to members of the public. The vehicle was seized under Section 59 powers.
Riverside officers have been actively involved in De Montfort University Freshers' Week, meeting students and providing advice on staying safe whilst living, studying and enjoying everything Leicester has to offer. Officers have been registering bicycles onto the national bike database to help reduce bike theft and increase the chances of stolen bikes being recovered and returned to their owners. Students have also been given crime prevention advice, personal safety guidance and information on how to report concerns.
PCSO V and PCSO Hafsa conducted reassurance patrols around Mattioli Woods Welford Road Stadium ahead of Leicester Tigers' fixture against Saracens, speaking with supporters and helping to maintain a safe and welcoming atmosphere.
Congratulations to PC Callum, who was awarded a Chief Constable Commendation in recognition of his contribution during a major incident on the beat last year. This award reflects the high standards of policing demonstrated by PC Callum and his commitment to serving and protecting our communities
